Pastoral Crisis Intervention (2 Day Course - CEU Available)
In this interactive course, crisis intervention is presented in the context of the combination of faith-based resources along with traditional crisis intervention techniques representing a powerful addition to community and organizational psychological support. The purpose of this seminar is to assist the participants in learning how pastoral and traditional psychological crisis interventions may be effectively integrated.
Topics include: key terms and concepts; psychological crisis reactions; integrative crisis intervention; critical incident stress management (CISM); the nature of trauma and violation of core beliefs; the crisis of faith; differences between pastoral crisis intervention and pastoral counseling; the five functional elements of pastoral crisis intervention; mechanisms of pastoral crisis intervention, avoiding common mistakes; most challenging situations; and practice in intervention.
